Iain Bryant

Iain is a CA and entrepreneur and brings a unique beyond-the-obvious approach to business, in order to complement his formal training and experience with his own entrepreneurial business ventures.

Having worked within Corporate Finance, Advisory, Mergers, Acquisitions and taking his own products to market, Iain has a significant ability to roll out innovation platforms and programs for clients, tease out innovative business ideas from an organisation and evaluate these opportunities for viability from both an investment and a start-up business case perspective.

Iain headed up the Harmony Gold’s Innovation program under Bernard Swanepoel, establishing and creating new business ventures beyond gold mining for the world’s fifth largest gold producer. The value created for shareholders by those initiatives to date is in excess of R2 billion.

More recently he has consulted on Innovation Management and Strategy formulation and design for companies in various industries from a leading South African Utility, to media businesses, and capital-intensive plant hire and transport concerns.

He was one of the founder members and presenters of the SA Innovation Summit, held in October 2008 and the second Innovation Summit held in August 2009.

He conceptualised, co-designed and delivered a course on Innovation in Lean Times for the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in August 2009, and is a guest lecturer for GIBS on Innovation Strategy and Innovation Management.

Iain also owns the publishing rights to a series of books in Africa, America and Europe – the African version scheduled for publication September 2010; the process of which is within the Future by Design plan set in place for its success.
